Together for Marco and Gloria: Rebuilding After Tragedy

A tragedy that changed

Marco and Gloria’s lives

forever

Marco, 35, and his sister Gloria, 33, grew up in a small village at the foot of the Alps, near Turin, Italy, with their parents. Unfortunately, their lives have been marked by tragic events that changed them forever.

An unbearable loss

In June 2021, their mother passed away after a long illness. After a few years of finding a new sense of normalcy as a family of three, just four months ago, their father suddenly passed away from a heart attack. Marco, who had moved to Milan in the meantime, returned home to take care of their childhood home and their father’s four beloved pets. Fortunately, after several difficulties, he managed to find them a new home.

Gloria, who had been living with their father, also had to move to Milan to avoid being alone in a large house in the suburbs, filled with too many memories of the past.

A Fire That Destroyed Everything

Marco had returned to the family home for maintenance work, but on the night between March 25 and 26, 2025, a fire, caused by a malfunctioning stove, completely destroyed the house.
After a long day, Marco had dozed off on the couch on the ground floor when he woke up to the flames. Thankfully, he managed to escape unharmed.

Had he gone to sleep in his usual bedroom on the second floor, he wouldn’t be here with us today.

The house where Marco and Gloria grew up was the last tangible memory of their parents and childhood. Along with it, they lost personal belongings that were yet to be moved to Milan. Sadly, they will not receive any compensation, as the house was not insured.
Marco and Gloria are now left with nothing, carrying immense sorrow in their hearts.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Financial Struggles and the Hope to Start Again

The family was already in financial difficulty, but now, without a home, Marco and Gloria are facing an even harsher reality.

But they are not giving up. They have each other, and with our help, they can hope to turn the page and close this dark chapter of their lives to begin a new one.

Right now, Marco doesn’t see the light ahead, but the tunnel will end eventually. The sun will shine again, and thanks to every small contribution, we can make a difference.
